Download Phones Show Chat episode 23 (27/01/2010) manually (Size: 30MB, 49 minutes duration). Phones Show Chat 23 - Show NotesDevice Week Nokia N97mini - a tale of woe, Nokia N86 - leave Ovi Maps (3.3) alone!, Samsung i8910, Sony Ericsson Satio, Psion 5mx & Nokia 6310i (!) Samsung i8910 Initial impressions (with Jon Satherley): Things we liked - Capacitive screen on S60 5th Edition, Large screen for multimedia, Screen brightness, Loud speakers with 5.1 stereo, 5th Edition software - some good, HD video & camera; Things we disliked - no Nokia software and services, Firmware update needed - poor support from Samsung, size of screen makes it not a 'phone sized' phone, Route66 'missing', high price. Sony Ericsson Satio Feels like a camera, build quality good, resistive touchscreen with tiny icons needs stylus, no 3.5mm headphone socket, buggy firmware Phones Show Phones Show 101 out soon! Interview with Vlingo - future of voice recognition on phones and Steve's review of the Google Nexus One Kev Wright's Quidco, Nokia rant and N900 rant!, Apple Media event - 6pm on 27th January 2010 - Kev will tweet out the important bits @kevwright Q&A & Listeners Letters An apology, Nokia 5800XM v40 firmware and RealPlayer, FMTransmitters in cars and interference whilst charging, how to retain apps and data on memory cards when changing cards in a symbian device, Nokia N97 - locking shift with the QWERTY keyboard, Acer Liquid for 3G on AT&T in USA, waiting for Android updates, implications of different processors in various devices - specifically Nokia N900 v Google Nexus One, annoying S60 5th Edition warnings get in the way, GEOTagging photos using a digital camera (not cameraphone) App of the Week Short appraisal of various Symbian 5th Edition apps that make it across to non-Nokia devices (Samsung i8910 in this case), Theme for Symbian: Just Black (in 5th Edition, 3rd Edition and Eseries versions), with full Ovi icons. Rant of the Week! Steve finds that the N97mini's battery gets very hot in use and is leaking RAM, Tim finds that storage space on Samsung i8910 is woefully poor even though it has oodles of RAM (much like the N97), misaligned/shifted capacitive sensors on Google Nexus One's screen and its space available for installling apps.
