This page is under construction. The idea has been brewing in me for a while - to bring together information on the various products that are available to generate heat and electricity in the home from sun and wind power. I'm appalled by the planet's energy and climatic problems and believe both governments and individuals should do what they can as soon as they can. See also this blog post of mine and its comment.
Over the next six months (from November 2006, now), I'll be writing about some of the options that you and I can take to do our part in the home. Even trivial solar and wind projects raise awareness - generating power from the sun or wind should be seen by all as perfectly normal (or even admirable) rather than 'wierd' or 'geeky'.

Phone solar charger, from
i-nique![]() After trying numerous solar changers for my smartphone, with nothing but disappointment, I hit the jackpot with this one. From configurable voltage to built-in Li-Ion rechargeable battery to lid-mounted reflector to built-in LED torch, this well-built accessory is highly recommended. On my summer camping trip away, I'd leave this mounted on top of my tent during the day (in a food bag, in case it rained!) and then come back to charge my smartphone/camera at night. The system worked very well indeed and I was totally self-sufficient with email/photo viewing/phone functions, with no mains electricity in sight! |
