Many of the same tips apply as to other
electronic toys:
- Slit open the bubble packaging
carefully, so that should you or your child want to re-sell it
later on eBay (it will keep its value pretty well), you'll have something that
looks 'as good as new'.
- Unlike a Tamagotchi, your Pixel Chix won't
die if you forget about her for ages. In theory, if you do neglect her,
cobwebs will appear on the LCD and you'll have to work hard to make her happy
again, but it's not the end of the world. If all else fails, stick the stylus
in the reset hole on the back and you're back up and running, albeit with no
virtual money...
- By using the supplied 'sleep' mode (press
and hold Yes and No for three seconds), you can safely leave Pixel Chix without
playing with her for long periods, as long as the batteries are in good
shape.
- Don't worry if you keep trying to buy
something in one of the malls (after doing 'work' and earning money) and you
hear 'I don't have enough money', even if you know you do have enough. What
needs to happen (apparently) is that your Pixel Chix needs to go to the
cashpoint (on the left of the screen) to get the actual money in her
purse. If you keep earning money you'll have enough that the next time you try
and buy something your Pixel Chix will go to the cashpoint after being refused
and make a withdrawal.
- Take 4 spare AAA batteries with you
on long car journeys, just in case. Don't pay motorway service prices. And
stick to Alkaline batteries, to avoid leakage when left in the toy for long
periods.
- Although not extensive (thankfully), don't
lose the instruction leaflet. If you DO lose it, don't worry, it's
available here - Page 1 and Page
2 - as JPG images that you can (right click and 'Save as') download and
print on A4 paper from any graphics program on your PC.
