Huw Lloyd-Langton
"Live at Walthamstow"

Free CD with every DVD ordered - see below

Intro - Contents - Audio/Video samples - Notes - Ordering - Reviews

I'm pleased to present the whole of Huw Lloyd-Langton's acclaimed concert at the Standard, in Walthamstow, 18th April 2002, on DVD.

The gig at the Standard was extra special, capturing Huw on fire and looking great (after recovering from Legionaire's disease on the Hawkwind winter tour, 2001, not to mention a broken hand!). The guitar skills are dazzling and the sounds are amazing - not a bum note in 110 minutes of music! Huw was joined by Kenny Wilson (bass), John Clark (drums) and Gonzalo Carrera (keyboards), plus High Tide's Tony Hill on guitar for the encore.

On fire!
Screen-grabbed from the DVD

"Live at Walthamstow" features:

  • 110 minutes of DVD concert video
  • Desk-sourced, CD quality sound
  • Menus/chapters for easy access to any song
  • A slide-show, with music, of Huw through the ages(!)
  • Production notes

Track list: Alien Jiggers / I could cry / Wars are the hobby there / Lonely Man / Outside the Law / Talk to you / Wind of change / Got your number / Rocky Paths / Waiting for tomorrow / Psychedelic Warlords / Hurry on Sundown

Here's a two minute video sample (huwcry.wmv, 1.8MB, Windows Media format) from the DVD, just to give you a flavour. (Obviously, it's far, far lower resolution than the DVD, to make the file play OK even on a 56K modem!) Also, here's the whole of the first track, "Alien Jiggers", at around five minutes, alienjiggers.mp3, 4.7MB, to give you an idea of the superb audio quality throughout.

Photo: Arthur Dowdeswell. Thanks also to Colin J Allen, for the filming and recording of the concert

Notes: this DVD was filmed and produced by fans for fans - although video quality is very good (and audio excellent), only one camera was used throughout - it's a great concert, but don't expect a big budget production! Note also that the DVD is actually a DVD-R disc - please make sure your set-top player can handle these (most can) before ordering! The DVD is not region coded, so can be played anywhere, as long as your TV/video system supports PAL (i.e. probably not America)

Special offer while stocks last, for mail order customers: The DVD is priced at £15.00, including world-wide postage to your door (no hidden charges, no extras), and including a FREE Lloyd Langton Group CD of your choice. Just tell us which one you'd like ("Elegy", "Chain Reaction" or "River Run") and we'll do the rest, while stocks last.

This offer is not available when ordering online - you need to send in a UK cheque or Postal Order. If you're overseas and would like the free CD as well, please contact me before ordering.

To purchase a copy of Huw Lloyd-Langton "Live at Walthamstow", please send the cheque made payable to "3-Lib" to 3-Lib, 22 Grays Crescent, Woodley, RG5 3EN.

Note that all sales are final. Please ensure your equipment can play PAL-format DVD-Rs before ordering. In the event of a faulty disc, please return it with for replacement, including enough postage to get back to you.

Reviews:
Richard Crossley: "Well, I was at the gig and was stood about 5 feet behind the (single) camera for most of the evening and I can honestly say this recording is just as I remember the night... 'Twas one the best gigs I've seen Huw do with his band in the last 10 years or so, the DVD captures the evening exactly and the sound quality is A++. Can't recommend it highly enough. Delivery was excellent too, cheque went in the post Monday night, DVD on doormat Wednesday morning! Thanks to all involved!"

Arthur Dowdeswell: Thank you very much for sending the Huw DVD so quickly. I received it yesterday morning and have been playing it ever since. The sound is superb and the video pretty remarkable under the circumstances. Technically (video capture, sync, etc) you've done an incredible job. It's more life-like and far more in sync than any mainstream concert DVD I have.
