Dismantling
OK, here's the Haynes guide for your GUPI.
Well, almost. It's actually the steps needed to dismantle it for clearing
fibres and fluff from the wheel axles. Only perform this procedure if you're
100% confident with this sort of thing! And note that the under-side fur will
never be quite the same again!
- Peel the fur gently from the bottom of
GUPI, starting with the flap. There are two or three glue strips which have to
be prised from the fur. Ditto from the bottoms of the sides.
- When you've cleared enough slack, you'll
find that you can slide the body fur over GUPI's backside and roll it back over
the head.
- Four recessed screws are now exposed.
Remove these and gently separate the two halves:

- Gently disconnect the two white computer
connectors and the black power connector. You should now have the bottom,
motorised half in one hand.
- Remove the four screws that hold down the
black wheel guards. Remove the guards.
- Remove the six screws that hold down the
two white motor sections.
- Lift the motors out together (they're
joined by a wire) and examine the wheel axles for hairs and fluff.

- Unscrew any wheels that need clearing, pop
them off and clean.
- Reassemble everything! You may want to
re-glue some of the fur on the underside of GUPI.
