Review: Strawberry Shortcake: Strawberryland GamesScore: 66 Adults and males of any age look away now - this is a title unashamedly aimed at three to eight year old girls. Which means no mind-mangling gameplay and no fiendish puzzles. What you get is simple, sugar-sweet and (mainly) pink.
The Strawberryland games themselves are: "Berry Boarding down the whip cream slopes of the Sundae Mountains, Balloon Rise through candy cloud skies of Strawberryland and Black Liquorice Leap from one end of Punchbowl Pond to the River". The names themselves will give you a clue as to the general tone and theme of the game. Each game is simple to complete (for a grownup, at least) and the main attraction for a small girl is just the fun of escaping to Strawberry Shortcake's world for half an hour...
In addition to the three main games mentioned above, there are Strawberry-ised versions of regular child computer staples such as whack-a-mole, catch and pairs, plus a Dessert Booth where you can cook treats to errmmm.... keep you going through the rest of the games. I'd say this would keep a little girl happy for a couple of hours the first time, maybe 10 minutes a time after that. It's arguable value for money, but I suppose if your daughter is a Strawberry Shortcake fan...... (Buy Strawberry Shortcake: Strawberryland Games for the Nintendo DS Lite now) |
