Review: Purr Pals

Score: 65

Sigh. Not another virtual pet game? But yes. Nothing breeds copycats (hah! a pun) like success. This game is part of Nintendogs legacy, but it's not as well done...

Purr Pals

The cats aren't as cute as the puppies in the original title, for example, or as well animated. The pet happiness model could do with tweaking too, with it being virtually impossible to keep your cat happy all the time - it gets hungry far too quickly.

Screen

The tie-in with a US make of cat food is perhaps the clue to this (see the screenshot above), but no matter, there is a redeeming side to Purr Pals and that's the selection of themed mini-games.

Copy Cat is a simple memory game, Music is a feline version of Guitar Hero, Cupid sees you firing arrows to try and make two cats fall in love and Alley Oops is Hoops by any other name.

I have to confess to losing patience with this title. There's simply little that's new and plenty that could do with fixing. OK at a bargain 'keep your daughter happy on a long car journey' price but not a real keeper.
