Review: Ben 10 - Protector of the Earth (DS)

I've featured enough titles on these pages to suit 10 year old girls, not it's the turn of the boys....
Ben 10, in case you're not a cartoon fan, is a ten year old boy with an alien watch that lets him transform into 'ten' alien forms, in which guise he saves the universe.... fairly often...
In this game version, he should really be called Ben 5, because that's how many aliens are included for call up on the bottom screen, the alien watch, whose circular jog dial lets you select who Ben should transform into next.
Ben 10 is a fairly predictable platform puzzler, despite the 'transformer' twist, but don't let that put you off - there are hours of fun here figuring out which alien is best for which puzzle, beating up bad guys, grabbing energy powerups (without which your watch will fail) and generally living your dreams as a mutating super-hero.
Graphics and sounds have been implemented just right and my only complaint would be that the usual fighting game malaise of an over-complicated system of button combinations is also hit here. You'll have to really immerse yourself in the characters and in the game before you'll really be able to live as the aliens effectively and make the most of their abilities.
