Cricket Video Clips

The premise of Cricket Clips is to host very short video clips of some favourite cricketers from days past in action. It's all very well remembering someone inspirational like Michael Holding, but he last bowled twenty years ago and it's great to be able to visualise the run up, the action, etc.

  • IMPORTANT: The clips are (nearly) all at 352 by 288 pixels, which is half full-screen resolution for UK TV. If your browser starts showing them in a tiny window at the bottom of your Internet Explorer left-hand (Media) bar, just click on the 'undock player' button and drag the video window somewhere suitable on your screen... After viewing each clip, leave the video window on-screen, to save having to keep undocking and moving it!
  • You'll need a fairly fast connection. Even at half full-screen size, each six second clip takes up over a Megabyte. If you're on a dial-up modem, you'll have to be patient for each clip to download!
  • It seems that for many people, the seamless playback of these clips has been ruined by Microsoft's Service Pack 2 security tweaks. If you find you can't play these clips directly, or can't work out the settings needed, try right-clicking them and downloading them to a 'local' file on your hard disk instead.
  • Hopefully, you'll get some enjoyment out of these clips, too. Technically, they're all lifted from the television, so I guess they're copyrighted, but a) they're VERY short (some as short as a second or two!), b) information on the original broadcast companies is mostly long gone, and c) there's no commercial interest here. It's all just for fun...
  • If you have a favourite cricketer from days gone by and would like to submit a similar clip (max size 4MB please), feel free to get in touch at slitchfield A T gmail.com
